200 SHO making oil

I purchased a 200 SHO used with the hours listed below:

The engine is still making oil at 50 hours. I have read numerous articles that states that I should run the engine at 6000 rpms for at least a continuous hour to get the engine to heat up enough to seat the rings. Today the average water temperature is in the low 60's in my area. Is it possible to run this engine hard enough in 60 degree water to develop enough heat to seat the rings or do I need thermostats that are above the stock engine thermostats. If I need higher temperature thermostats can someone provide the Yamaha part number. Is there any other solutions to seat the rings.

Have you checked to make sure the thermostat(s) is/are not stuck open, thus allowing the engine to run too cold? I had two engines making oil and both had thermostats stuck open. replaced the stats, ran hard with ring-free in fuel, and both have been fine ever since. I know there are only 50hrs on the motor, but I have learned the hard way that new does not necessarily equal good...

Pull thermostats they were closed, heated in hot water and they were fully open around 140 degrees. Temp gauge on my command link indicates proper temp control.
