  • motor over revving

my Yamaha 150 2001 model is breaking loose. When I go to accelerate it starts moving boat ok but as I continue to give it gas it revives way pass normal and sounds like it is excavating but its not. everything is in its normal position ( down all the way). It was not doing this last year when I took it out. Does the prop have a bushing or something that can wear out?

Yes there is a bush in the propeller hub.
Try making a mark on the propeller hub and a mark on the prop nut and see if it moves after you have the over-revving problem.

Sounds very much like that's the issue.

You don't need a new prop, any prop shop can re-hub it. If the engine doesn't top out at the optimum RPM(normal conditions), now is the time to have them "adjust" it (put in /take out some cup) and change the RPM range some..
