Blown fuse got the gauges back up . I tested the gauge per Boscoe's instructions and it checked out fine.. Now I just have to figure out why there are still full bars on the gauge. Should I start with the ohm meter at the pink wire connection under the console on the motor side ?

The trim gauge using the "2 wire sender" works similarly to a fuel gauge:

the gauge supplies a con*****ed voltage on the pink wire,
and measures how much current flows to ground through the sender,
as the sender resistance varies with position.

when the sender arm is 'swung down' by the trimmed down motor,
          the sender resistance is low,
current flow through the sender to ground is high,
and the gauge correspondingly shows a low trim position.

when the engine and the sender arm are swung up,
          the sender resistance is high,
          little current flows,
and the gauge shows a high trim position.

If the trim gauge always reads "fully up",
that is an indication of excessively high resistance,
          or even a complete disconnection,
          in the wiring, or connections,
          somewhere between the gauge,
the sender, or the sender's connection to ground.

That explanation backs up what my meter is telling me . It reads OL at the motor side of the connector . Going out of town for about a week and I'll get back on it then . Thanks for the help

Agreed! Hope everyone is well here. Was it gsdanno1 that shredded a balancer awhile back and managed to save the powerhead?

That was me on the balancer , been 3 years and no motor issues . Will be getting back on the gauge issue on Wed. I'll let you know what I find

Don’t rule out the guage being faulty. They produce funny symptoms when the liquid crystal leaks out, so I have observed.

Connector "D" says it goes to warning sensor . What and where is that ? Also gauge checked out per Andy at SIM Yamaha instructions .

Problem solved. I started on this project last year when I discovered my trim cam was broken . Life kind of got in the way as well as boathouse issues , other boat issues. I had apparently disconnected one of the harnesses and when I got back to working on it a couple weeks ago , completely forget about . While moving some wires around I noticed the disconnected connector . All is good. Thanks everyone for their suggestions and help . Haerd to help someone who can't help themselves
