Tilt/Trim on a 40 HP

I bought a used 15' Scout Center Console boat and the power Tilt/Trim unit is bad. What alternatives do I have beyond buying an OEM version for $1300+. I am a boat rookie and would appreciate any advice. Do I need it to be power, or is there a manual version? Thanks in advance.

You might look for a used one. There is aftermarket trim brackets for 40 hp motors but make sure they are wide enough for your motor to bolt to.
