  • 30HP Mystery part.

Greetings all, lifted my engine cover today as motor was not running right and
found this broken spring/clip on the bottom of the case.
    Motor is a 30DMH 3cyl.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Kevin

I the same model (30DMO) and never found something similar.

Your sure that thing is from motor?
Have you notice any diference on motor operation?

        Hi Boscoe!

My 30DMO match with US 30MLHS

Haven´t found a match of 30DMH for US model, just for 30DMHO which is the same thing but with autolube/precision blend.

Mine could be a 30DMHO as is manual start, tiller handle, oil injected

          By the way...

My 30DMO PID is 6J8 while some 30DMH/30DMHO are PID is 6N3

Have been told me that the only diference is that 6J8 is manuafactured in Japan while 6N3 is manufactured in France

Pretty sure it's from the engine as its only done about 20hrs and it had
a small amount of grease on it. Have gone through the parts manual
but no joy, I might go down to the Yamaha dealer and see if I can have
a look on another engine. Will test drive it and see if it runs ok.

              cant open the pic.
it looks like part or the recoil start pawl spring.
              recoil starter working OK?

Rodbolt we are going to have to get your computer were it can open some of these pictures. I am sure one of us can figure it out. Just let us try.

by the way the break looks seems like that spring was bent farther than what it is just laying there positioned at.
On a newer motor where timing is con*****ed by the CDI and no linkages to a timing plate, what Rodbolt says is the only thing that I can think of also that would have a spring close to that

when Boscoe posts them they open, otherwise it just sits there with a wheel thing spinning.
wont be the first pawl spring I ever changed.

My guess is you do not have to click on the ones Bosco posts because they are inbeded, or can you open some that you click on?

What are you running IE or maybe Firefox or Silverlight?

Of course I know enough about these things to get me in trouble most of the time, but I am sure someone can help

When mine does that I close it then click on it again and it opens.

But then again, I'm an angineer, not a manickanick...

Rodbolt, I think you have helped me out here, I searched the web and found a picture of the part you mention, I will pull the starter off on the weekend and
                          Have a look.
                          Thanks.
