As we have no idea what year your "F" engine is, here's where it is on another F8 (part #6):
Looking at THIS picture, it should be under the black, plastic starter cover, adjacent to the head.

The head/with the cam sprocket would be adjacent to the T-stat (but as stated earlier), should be just under the black, plastic starter cover on top.
Got a flashlight or remove the pull starter. Should be in this area -blue arrow (looking at the parts pic's):
