    Other than knowing what they are, I have zero experience with tunnel hulls. Is that pretty typical with this style of boat (to have a jack plate)?

      from what I have seen yes, lower motor to get up under normal situations and be able to jack it it up for running skinny. If you have to in shallow water jack it up to idle out to deep enough water to get back up if you cannot get up . Or get moving with it jacked up and then lower it some as speed increases to get a better grip as water is funneled to the lower unit and prop.

      But I have heard you loose some speed because of the resistance of funneling the water through the tunnel
