2006 F90 Fuel Injected Outboard Problem

I have a 2006 F90 Fuel Injected 4 stroke outboard that will start up and immediately die. If I pull up the high idle lever it will run fine but will die out as soon as I put it down. The motor is on a 30ft pontoon and is too big for me to take somewhere and there isn't anyone around that will come out and look at it. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Check the wiring to the ISC valve. Also, inspect the integrity of the wire to socket connections within the electrical connector that attaches to the connection point on the ISC valve.

Some mechanics don't like to work away from a shop. Hard to take all of your tools and diagnostic equipment with you. What ever gets taken is oft times not that which is needed. Back to the shop. Maybe several times. Mechanics like to be fixing stuff. Not driving.

Shop rates can be north of a hundred bucks an hour in some places. Somebody has to pay for a shops time. Not unheard of for a mechanic to make a two hour round trip, only to find that all was needed was to disconnect and reconnect a connector.

Ask around on your lake if anyone has used a mechanic that makes house calls.

Yes, that is the ISC valve. Do a visual on the wiring. It is a known hotspot.

OK I found a broken wire at the connection plug. I repaired it and still getting the same thing. Is this going to be one of those deals where I have to replace the entire wiring harness or do they have a fix?

Carefully inspect the other wires as well. Maybe do a continuity test to verify you have a good electrical connection to each pin. All the way back to the ECU if possible. I hate to suggest stabbing a wire with a needle probe but sometimes you gotta do what gotta be done.

Yes, they have a fix. The fix is to replace the entire wire harness. Yamaha does not offer spare pins, sockets or connectors.

They being Yamaha US.

This place might be able to provide another connector and set of sockets.

If the electrical connections to the ISC valve are correct then I don't have any more ideas.

not to bring up a dead thread but for future reference anyone that comes across this YOU CAN GET THE TERMINALS AND CONNECTORS to bypass the harness so you don't have to buy a new whole new one
