  • Looking to connect F225XB to NEMA2000 network.

I have a fairly new F225XB with older(2004) analog gages and controls. I'm interested in get data from the engine to a new Furuno MFD via NEMA2000.

What is the purpose of the Yamaha Inline HUB - 6Y8‑81920‑11‑00

I was going to use a pig tail from the engine to a multi-port hub in the console but the 12 foot pig tail is a little short. Can I simply add wire to the 12 foot pigtail to reach the console? Or do I have to add a shorter pigtail and connect it withe the inline hub??

I know I'll need a gateway but my first priority is to get data from the engine to the center console.

    Thanks
    Paul

First, you do not need to use a Gateway. Optional.

The hub I believe has a 120 ohm resistor within it. It also is a converter from one style of connector to a different style of connector.

Several ways to skin you cat. Have you looked at Yamaha rigging guide? https://online.flowpaper.com/7c25076...talog1/#page=6

You could, within the NMEA recommendation that connection (a "drop") be a max of 20 feet in length -
so up to 8 feet added.

In fact, you'll note only the blue and the white wires are used at the engine connection,
so you could literally cut the red & black wires out of the pigtail
and use some of that to splice into the blue and the white to extend them.

At the helm, you'll want a multi-hub with 'terminator caps' on BOTH "BUS" ports,
you'll have the engine pigtail on one "Device" port,
an 'adapter' cable to the Furuno on another "Device" port,
and of course power & ground connected to the hub "Power" port.

        Thanks for the quick responses.

OK, so I'll add a required length of cable to the pigtail. It won't be 20 feet, probably 15 max.
It sounds like I don't need that expensive gateway, just an 'adapter' cable from one device port to the NEMA2000 network. Is that correct? Is that something I can buy or do I need to make something.

        Thanks
        Paul

BTW, I have been looking at the Yamaha rigging guide. I believe page 2-8 represents my current config. I was looking at 2-36 as a potential guide to adding data to my Furuno without touching the existing analog setup.
