What plug wrench for NGK plugs on new 40HP

We have a 2019 40HP Yamaha and cant get the plugs out with a standard wrench or an 18 MM recommended by shop. The former is too small, the latter seems to spin. Is there some kind of special plug wrench?

Nope. Standard spark plug socket from the spark plug stand point. Seems to use a 18mm socket.
