Speedo not working

My 50hp 2 stroke Yam Mod 50DETO/ 1991.The speedo has stopped working I think weeds might be problem How would I check it out?

There should be a black plastic tube (hollow) that comes out from the engine and connects to a much longer hose to the forward part of the vessel.

Blowing air /water, from the top down may loosen what ever crap is in there. The pitot hole in the leading edge of the lower unit is likely clogged up. Using a VERY small drill bit, by hand, CAREFULLY, may help pull debris out. That hole is very small and is VERY EASY TO BREAK OFF a drill bit inside.

Once clear, here's a post/mod that I made up and works well. You can see the size hose Yamaha uses as well (that I tee'ed into);
