If I buy a new Yamaha 90 HP and the dealer tells me he is installing Command Link, does that mean he is *necessarily* putting a Yamaha bus/manifold into the boat that I can then tap my Garmin into for data via NMEA? Or, is it possible he might instead wire more 'directly' from the motor to the Command Link gauge without giving me any place to connect my Garmin?
I'm trying to figure out if I need to buy the $85 interface cable that plugs into the white plug under the cowling and have the dealer run that cable while they're doing the rest of the work, but I don't want to if instead there will be a tee that they're installing as part of Command Link that I can take advantage of. I do understand that I may need an NMEA starter kit and have purchased that just in case.
I am trying to get an answer from them but also thought I'd post here since there seems to be a lot of wisdom on the board.
