70 hp yamaha shift problem

That whole spline shaft that I was rotating is what I pulled out. Let me see if I can pop it out again and take a picture or a video

This is the lower shaft spline

That shifter shaft looks fine.. The slight groove around it is factory machined(normal).

Please wait for others (with hands on experiance) to chime in. I strongly suspect there's an issue beyond where that shaft goes into..

Well talked to a boat mechanic friend. He said spin the drive shaft not the prop to find neutral. Then try that. He said it shouldn't be messed up so ill try that other wise ill take it to yamaha or get an sei lower unit
