    Thank you ahead of time!!
We recently inherited a Lund boat with a Yamaha 1984 50hp outboard motor.
It runs great and we can't wait to take it out.
The only thing that needs to be replaced is the oil tank cap and or the tank itself.
The threads for the oil cap on the tank are broken, any help for replacement or repair would be great.
    Thank you!!

If a US model, it shows two 50 HP engines, here's one: https://www.boats.net/catalog/yamaha/outboard-by-year/1984/50etln/oil-pump-50etsn-50etln

Doesn't show the tank available (discontinued) but a search on E Bay showed a new, OEM one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-6H4-...75.c1#viTabs_0

      Thank you Scott
I have already gone that route, but it doesn't answer my question. Does the black ring on the oil tank come off??

Click on the parts link I provided.

It shows you a detailed picture: https://www.boats.net/catalog/yamaha...-50etsn-50etln

Looking at the pic, Part #17 is what your looking for and per that link, is available and appears to be a separate part/comes off..
