I've never done a fuel pump rebuild and was wondering if it is very difficult? They want a lot at the dealership to do one. All info appreciated

price all the diaphrams and gaskets.
you will find its almost 25 bucks give or take.
a pump is about 45 dollars new.
now I take 25 dollars worth of parts, head over to the work bench.
spend 15 min disassembling cleaning and reassembling your pump at 80 bucks an hour.
you now have a brand new rebuilt pump.
its why I don't rebuild them.

Seems that is correct
that motor has the pump built into the lower carb.
So best to buy the parts needed to rebuild
Did not see anything about a whole pump
There is a kit

Yep, kind of tough to buy a complete pump when one is not available. Just cause one Yam model has a standalone fuel pump available (or two) won't mean that another Yam model has a standalone fuel pump.
A Yam is not a Yam is not a Yam.
I don't believe that the carburetor repair kit has the piece parts needed to rebuild the fuel pump.
Would be nice to know if this is a two cylinder or three cylinder 25 HP model.
Why is it so hard to post the complete model identity?

if its the two carb two cyl the pump is part of the lower carb.
the 2 cyl single carb and the 3 cyl 25 uses a separate pump.
so far we have 3 25 hp yamahas that pretty much only share that they were made in japan.
I still need an alternator for a ford truck

I thought the 2000 3 Cylinder pump was on one of the carbs also
This is very true.
Model # would tell for sure how it is built and if it truly is a 2000
You would think people could post the complete model # very easily when ever they ask about a motorLast edited by 99yam40; 02-05-2015, 10:32 AM.

I see where you're going 98yam39, I think its a 2006 135hp Evinrude ETECH.No pumps at all on those carbs, in fact, no carbs at all. But there must be a rebuild kit for a 1997 Honda 90hp, maybe not though. I'll check with Hupmobile. There are but they are backordered until 2022.Guess he has to buy a new motor. Maybe a Seagull Forty Plus.Last edited by donsmarine; 02-07-2015, 11:17 AM.
