2010 F250 Outboard Ignition Problem

Good afternoon,

I just purchased a boat last week with a Yamaha 250 outboard. First time I put her in the water my blue light on the binnacle controls wouldn’t light up. Turned the battery switches off and on a couple times and then it lit up. Ran her all weekend with no such issues. Pulled in Sunday evening after checking terminal connections on batteries and the battery switch and the same thing happened again. This time the blue light wouldn’t come on. I ran out of time looking at it, but was hoping to seek some advice here. Anyone have any suggestions?

what does this blue light represent?

It’s the digital electronic control-active indicator.

When this light doesn’t come on, I’m unable to start the engine. Thinking maybe a loose wire, or possibly a bad ignition switch, or conductors within the switch?

I know nothing about those controls , but a hand held volt meter will show where you have 12volts and where you do not
