After changing the seals and water pump, etc. It went too well. Installed the lower unit, put the oil in the lower unit, "rabbit ears" on, water on, started engine.
BUT, now it won"t go in gear. Looked at previous posts. Took the lower unit off, back to the bench. Tried to move the shifter, gently, while turning the input shaft, the prop shaft did not move, but it is easy to turn by hand in either direction. It seems as if the shifter is not moving anything in the gear case. The shifter moves very little, but I can't feel anything "move" in the gear case. Could I have dislodged something in the gear case during the water pump job? Had it upside down to dump out any trash that might have been in the bolt holes, etc..
Any Ideas?
