  • Tilt motor

I have a 2006 F90TLR. I had issues with my tilt motor last year so I pulled the motor and cleaned our all the carbon. It worked fine until now. I works up and down unless I tilt it all the way down. Then I get the relay clicking but not upward movement. If I tap the area by the tilt motor if will work again. I hate to replace the motor if it is not the issue as it works most of the time. Any suggestions

If tapping it makes it work, sounds like that IS the issue...

I'd pull it apart, inspect, replace brushes /worn parts, etc..

It'd be much cheaper that buying an OEM and better than a chinese knock off (IMO).

      .
OP asked about a trim motor and you show a starter motor,

but I am sure her gets what you say about the brushes.

strange how that only happens in the complete down position thou ,
I would think it would happen in any position if the brushes were not making good contact some times.
I think checking all connections would be in order.
maybe a ground wire that gets a strain when fully down?

      just something to look for

Thank you for the suggestions. It is strange that it only stops working if you tilt all the way down. But a tap brings it back to life. I will go over all the connections again. If it persists I guess I will have to replace the brushes.

How'd the brushes look last time it was apart?

The brushes looked good still plenty of thickness and no signs of carbon or burning
