  • F115 - Stalling after hot restart

I have had an intermittent problem with my 2002 F115 when on hot days ( and usually in the afternoon ) after I restart the and take off after about 15-20 seconds the engine looses power. When I pull the throttle back it sometimes stalls or runs rough for a bit and then it comes good.

I have done some searching and it appears that earlier models had this problem and it is caused by the fuel heating up and venting into the intake causing a rich mixture.

Apparently there is a "kit" available but it is expensive - Is there a part number for it ? How long to instal it ?

Also people say to let the engine idle for a bit when you slow down after running hard. Any other "fixes" for this issue ?

I have serviced the whole fuel system including the injectors and VST.

    Thanks JON

your describing a lack of fuel in the VST.
your NOT describing excessive vapors in the air box.
excess vapors is a hard hot restart.
your describing a loss of rail pressure after starting and running a bit.
when was the last time you serviced the fuel pump assy??

The whole fuel system was done in the last 100 hours.

I would have thought that if it was rail pressure issue then temp would not matter. Ie it would happen at other time rather then just when the engine was hot and there was high ambient temp.

well do you think testing would be that hard to see if rail pressure is dropping?

It sure sounds like the problem even if you do not think so, so test
