  • Getting engine data to my Garmin 7608xsv

I have a 2014 F115xb, I want to connect to my Garmin to have engine data displayed. I have searched for an answer , but can't get the whole answer.
I have brand new 6y5 tach and speed/fuel gauges as well as a new 704 control box. I do not have a nmea system set up or yamaha command link. What items do I need to purchase to make the 25' run from my engine to my 7608xsv. All the connection cables at the engine have short cables, 12' the longest, what cable is used after the pigtail or garmin to yamaha interface cable, I believe it to be a nmea backbone cable, but cant find where it says definitevely, yes
1 other question I cant seem to find an answer to, do I need a oil/ trim harness for my engine? From my understanding it will only display trim since the 115xb doesn't send oil pressure. Let me know if I forgot any important info needed. Thanks

First, the trim/oil harness carries the trim position information,
and it is also what lights the warning indicators on the tach
    So yes,
although the ECM does not know exactly how many psi oil pressure there is,
there is a pressure switch -
and you will get a warning indication on the tach if there is low oil pressure.
And also a high temperature warning.

    For NMEA 2000 engine data,
you'll start with a "NMEA 2000 Starter Kit"
    there are several brands,
the Garmin may be good for you,
since it includes an 18' backbone cable,
    and a 6' drop cable.

You'll put one end of the backbone at or near the helm,
where you can get power to it,
    and connect the Garmin.

Then you'll run the backbone cable toward the transom area,
where it will end with one Tee and a terminator:
you'll plug into the Tee an "Adapter cable"
to run over to inside the engine cowling.
The Lowrance 120-37 is good for that,
    since its 15 feet long.

So between the 15 feet of adapter cable coming out of the engine,
    and another 18' of backbone,
that should reach from the engine to helm.
