  • 2003 Yamaha F115TXRB Error Code 28 and 29

    Hello Everyone,

I am new to the Forum so forgive me for my mistakes.
I do need help with my 2003 Yamaha F115TXRB.
    I am getting Code 28 and 29.

For Code 28 I have already removed the shift position switch and tested continuty and the switch seems to be working fine.
I have reinstalled it and disconnected the switch while in neutral tested the switch again and my multimeter shows continuity.
But when I hook up to the YDS the ECM thinks that the motor is either running or not in neutral.
Hence I cannot test the ISC to check for the code 29 ( intake air pressure sensor).
If the shift position switch is okay but the ECM thinks that it is not in neutral what else could be wrong?

I will try to test for continuity from the ECM plug side where the Blue/Yellow wire from the shift position switch sends the signal.
Other than that can the ECM be malfunctioning?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for everyones help.

    Thank you Forum

For the valuable information on the site.

I have solved my problems in one crack.
I followed the shift position switch wire to the ECM and found that there was a ground wire that wasn't connected probably by someone who previously worked on the motor.
Once I connected the ground wire both codes have been cleared.
The motor acts and sounds a lot better starts right up.

Thank you Again for all the information on the site.

Not at all. Most regulars will jump right in (myself included).

Your symptoms were very odd. Speaking for myself, I had no idea what your issue was and didn't post.
          I suspect others, the same..

          Welcome to the forum!

I agree, I had no idea what could cause that problem.

My 1st thought was you tried to start motor with control in neutral, but then you had a lot more going on than something that simple from what you posted
