2006 90 hp installation

I need help installing this new motor. my old 60 has most of the same plugs (i am using the same controls and harness) the new enging has attached battery cables are these supposed to be removed and the ones from the existing harness attached? this engine has a digital multifunction tach. The one cable has two plugs on each end and the engine only has one is the other plug unused? there is also an additional cable with the tach. where is this used? as it is much shorter then the other cable so it wont reach the engine. Dad always said that "the only stupid question is the one never asked" thanks Bill

They changed the harness ends after '94, so you'll probably need a new harness to go with the new motor and gauges. They're not too expensive, about $65 or so, and they've improved the wiring.
The plugs and harness are color coded to match up and easy to figure out.
