It is the nylon connector I am asking about, I just purchased a trim/ oil level harness. The previous owner never had the trim gauge hooked up. So now I am asking what the other nylon plug is for so i can get all out of my Gauges available

Seems that if the tach has a different number of connectors than the motor does then you will need an adapter at one end or the other , depending on the cable you have installed

I just purchased the boat in November and the Tach works fine other then the trim indicator on it stayed pegged out. After doing some trouble shooting I found it was never hooked up, so I purchaced a trim/ oil cable pluged it in an every thing works fine now on the tach but I still have the One Nylon plug not being used and just was trying to figure out What if any should be pluged into it ??

Let's go all the way back to your original question.

"I have a 05 F150 with a speed and a tach multifunction gauge, the one plug in the back of the tach is for oil and trim... But what is the other plug for ?"

The other nylon plug on your tachometer is used to receive information from the motor so that the tachometer can provide full functionality. With out the other plug being used your tachometer cannot display certain information that the motor provides.

Bingo! You got it. On the first go round.

                              Thanks 99yam40
You nailed it, after your replie I did some more research. It seems that what I have is a Pre 2004 Tach on a 2005 motor. But not a problem, with the adapter
( 6Y5-85335-00-00 ) you can use a pre 04 tach on a 05 and up motor , or a newer tach on a older motor.

I guess the previous never felt he needed any of the trim or alarm hooked up.
                              Thanks
