I recently purchased this motor used.
It starts and idles fine, I let the motor warm up a little and pulled a compression test on both cylinders, was 95 both cylinders.
My concern is when I put it on my boat (flatbottom 14ft 42 alum ) it does not seem to be reving all the way up when wot, and it will not plane my boat with just me in it. I had a 15hp yamaha on this boat and it would plane the boat and run about 17 mph. I ran this motor and at wot it runs 13.5 mph (used gps)
the PO put a stainless 3 blade prop that is 13 pitch. Is this too much pitch for my boat? The boat is a little heavy made, but this motor should push it to at least 25-27 mph and plane. The boat is a 2005 southfork boat company boat, so no hook in the chine or anything.
How do I hook up a tac to the motor? what is the operation rpms of the motor?
Should I get a lower pitch prop?
