  • 2001 130hp severe smoke on start up

Hi there, new member here from Australia, first time poster so go easy on me, I hope some guru here can assist me. I have a pair of 2001 130hp 2 strokes with low hours that when left sitting for 4 or so hours after being run,on restarting they blow so much smoke( I mean a shitload) people come running with fire extinguishers) Well not quite running but you get the drift. They run perfect otherwise, 1 side is a little worse than the other. Does anyone have any ideas. The oil pump arms have been adjusted as per manual. Is there a common problem with these, Ive tried searching but dont really come up with anything. Its like oil is running into the engine somehow and smokes like no other outboard Ive ever seen. It clears all the mozzies away at least, but is really annoying and embarrassing. Ive spoken with a few mechanics here who havent heard of the problem.
Thanks in adavance for any help given.

does it do this if you tilt the motors up after shutting them down?
But then I think that was mainly 4 stroke problem.

there should be check valves in the oil system to keep oil from draining while motor is off?
I am guessing these motors are oil injected and not premix.

Its an oil injected 2 stroke. The boat sat for a couple of years doing nothing, had them all serviced and they started doing this. its strange that both of them started doing it around the same time. maybe sitting around has caused some seals to go hard or something similar
