  • 75hp Commercial Series trim motor working intermittently

    Hi Everyone,

I've got a new to me mid-90s (I think it's a 1997) 75hp 2 stroke commercial series motor. The trim motor has been acting up where it will work for a few seconds then bump/pulse on and off for a fraction of a second, barely moving the motor up and down. I've checked the solenoid and it's getting 12V (sometimes dropping to 11 if under load) and clicking on and off audibly as it should. The trim motor is pretty new per the original owner, but that doesn't mean anything I know. It seems to do it more once the motor is down resting on the rams, but it still does do it when it's up out of the water as well.

I'm assuming new trim motor, but wanted to see if there was anything else I could be missing. Motor model is C75TLRU

monitoring the voltage leaving the relay to the motor will tell if the relay is having trouble.
if you have steady voltage to the motor but it stops and starts then I would think motor has a problem
