  • 2004 Yamaha 75 four stroke Burt electrical smell

2004 Yamaha 75 four stroke overheated and blew a 30amp fuse. Replaced fuse and cleaned the water intake. Motor will idle for about a minute then the rpm’s drop and it dies. I still get a wrong electrical smell when taking the cover off. Any thoughts of what part may have been damaged or burnt?

motors do not overheat and blow fuses normally , at least I never heard of it happening.
the warning buzzer sounds and RPM is limited to let you know to shut it down

99yam40 - yes, I would agree that usually an alarm would go off. No alarm and the engine stopped and all electrical went dead. Found a 30 amp fuse blown, replaced it and everything came back to life. The issue now is that the motor will start and run for 30 seconds then dies at idle. It will start up again only if throttle up and dies below 900 RPM.
