  • 2004 F150 Descaling

I have purchased a boat used in salt water with a F150 with 504 hours. I will keep the boat on the Upper Chesapeake Bay in fresh to brackish water. I am thinking of using Rydlyme descaler and circulating it through the engine to clean out any scale build up. My first concern is will the process plug any small water passages. Is this a good/necessary procedure? This is my first boat that has been used in salt water so any help or comments are appreciated.

    Thanks

If it was mine I would not do it unless there is an overheating problem showing up.

    But do what you want.

I have read it did good things

99yam has posted here in the past about cleaning cooling passages using neutra-salt by Volvo Penta. I liked his procedure, but I was not totally clear how to complete the task. maybe he will clarify this time. I think his final step was to start the motor on ear muffs and do the final flush with fresh water while the thermostat or thermostat cover was out??? maybe he will clarify....

I do not remember ever posting that, maybe you are confusing me with someone else.

As I said I have read some good posts on the Rydlyme but never used it myself.
But why do it if there is not a problem showing up
