My port f200 cranks sometimes then it won't. When i spray amsoil's metal protector {wd40 like} and move the key back and forth it will eventually start. Trim always works and batterys are good. Are the key switches known to go bad? Test the continuity of engine start switch, then what the starter solenoid?

F200 Starts Sometimes, Sometime Not

I giggled when reading your post and jiggled my cup of coffee spilling it on my starter switch.
The motor now will not crank and of course will not start. And since it neither cranks nor starts it won't run.
Do you think it is my alternator?

we cant help much due to lack of information.
what I need is type of controls, top mount 704,sidemount 703 or flush mount 6x6.
then I need type of gauges.
then I can give quick reference points to do some quick voltage tests.
typically in less than 20 min this problem is nailed.
think of trons as water in a pipe.
we bring the water to the start valve via the red wire,we open the start valve via the start valve, now the water flows from the start valve to the neutral safety valve via the brown wire.
if in N this valve is open.
now water flows down the 10 pin main to the start relay.
the relay closes and the water returns to the lake.
we have now completed the hull start control circuit.
when that start relay valve opens it allows water from the engine harness red wire to flow to the starter solenoid via the brown wire it goes through the solenoid and back to the lake.
we now have checked the engine side start control circuit.
once the start solenoid valve is open it causes a disc to move and opens the starter motor valve allowing water to flow through the starter motor and back to the lake.
we now have checked all the start functions.
the devices use current FLOW to operate. no flow no worky worky.
if it cannot get back to the lake no device works.
see how stupidly simple 12V dc stuff really is?
