  • 25 HP Yamaha- Exhaust leak...maybe???

So this winter I picked up a a little Jon Boat powered by a Yamaha 25 HP 2 stroke. I did the typical preventive maintenance of a new plugs, new impeller, and even rebuilt the carb. However, this weekend when I took the boat out I noticed air bubbles (exhaust) coming out of the seam where the lower unit attaches. Is there a gasket or seal that needs to be replaced? Re-torque the lower unit bolts? This is normal and just ignore it? Thanks.

There's no gasket that seals the lower unit, but bubbles aren't normal. It's normal to see water leak out of that seam, but bubbles mean there's pressurized air being released. The only gasket near that area is the gasket for the exhaust manifold. It's not terribly expensive to replace yourself, it just takes some time.
