The F40 uses a Primestart fuel enrichment device which is powered by the lighting coil.
The type of starter switch should not matter, given that the push-to-choke function does not apply to this model.
A push-to-choke switch seems to be the more common of the two types but it really is not needed in the majority of Yamaha motors. If it is there and needed, it can be used. If there and not needed, no harm no foul.
