Drop debree into oil while changing help

Hi I just registerd because I need advise,
I was changing the oil on a yamaha 90 hp 4 stroke outboard and accidently
While pouring the new oil I notice a piece of the aluminum
Seal from the yamalube oil can fell in, Im feeling so stupid, I done oil changes all my life and now Im not sure wht should I do,I try draining the oil but did not see anything come out,I am gueesing the oil filterwill prevent it from cloging or damage anything?

I seriously doubt there's anything you need to do about it....may end up in your oil filter....

Approx how big a piece was it?

I would think the oil pump pick up screen would catch it and keep it there. It'd be too big to make it past there to the oil filter.

Depending on its size, it may come out the oil drain hole. You can try using the same oil, fill and drain and it may come out, again, unless its bigger than the drain bolt..

I would very much worry about it clogging up some oil passage
A large bumble Bee fly into my F60 last year - took it apart and found it lodged in a passage that would have caused trouble in the future
Suggest you take your engine apart and pull the piece out before it costs big money to repair

I remember your "bee" intrusion. Do you remember what passage it got stuck in?

I would worry about it not making its way to the oil pan. The oil fill is into the valve cover. I would pull the cylinder head cover and get it out.

As the others stated taking the valve cover off is a fairly easy task, it was on my small F60 not sure about your engine. Again I personally would NOT operate it until the foil was completely out of there.

If its an M6 size, (my F150 valve cover is an M6) it's likely 5.9 ft lbs(likely the same, 10mm socket).

They sometimes have it cast in the cover itself as well as the tightening order cast.
