OK...here's the latest...
My mechanic that was helping me had an ISC in his shop that he gave me (Saved me about $400 bucks) When I compared the two, the pindle was fine but the part that holds the pindle was protruding out of the housing about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. The replacement was not like that. SO...installed the replacement and all is well. I now know what an ISC sounds like when the engine stops. Thank you all for the advice for this novice, reluctant, boat owner (wife wanted it).
