  • Water leaking out shaft

    I have just purchased a 1999 yamaha 25 CV (2 stoke).
No water was peeing with muffes on, so replaced water pump (old one didnt look to bad. Put a full kit in, ... checked impeller direction etc)
Now, water only comes out of pee hole if i turn the tap on hard, but much much more water comes out of the front and back of the shaft openings half way up.

stripped down, checked with muffs connected to just gear box turned prop and water only comes out where it should from water pump.
hose connected onto tube at bottom of shaft and comes out of both the pee hole and upper section of shaft, so there appears to be a leak somewhere near the upper section of my shaft....

ANY SUGGESTIONS ADVISE WOULD BE APPREACIATED.

Sorted, I got a hose connected to the tube running up the drive shaft and turned the hose on full blast and it cleared it, even though it was flowing, obviously something was up there restricting flow.

sounds like you just had a plug to the tell tail that got cleared.

yes that happens from time to time.
I keep a piece of weed wacker line in boat to shove up it if the TT does not flow while I am out on the water just to make sure the pump is pumping
