I have a 50hp 2002 model. 50HETO with trim and tilt.
The one trim gauge lifts to half way when you put the ignition on with the motor in the down position. When you trim the motor up the gauge bounces from the middle mark to the up mark twice then returns to the midway point again then trims up from the midway mark again like it would if you are trimming the motor up from the midway mark. Its almost as if the gauge has lost its calibration. It used to work fine when i bought the boat. I have checked the trim leaver under the motor and it still looks new and has no corrosion and operates fine. I tried adjusting it there to correspond with the gauge but no difference. The gauge go's to the correct position when switched off.
My question. Could it be a electrical fault somewhere or would i have to replace the gauge?
