• just me again....and yes another question

I am in the process of installing a water pressure gauge and sending unit on my 2005 f115. When I ordered the part I recieved the sending unit for the temp gauge. So I have decided instead of sending it back why not just get the gauge to even out my console.

Question is: Where does the sending unit go for the temp? Thanks to Hamfisted I know where the water pressure sender goes but not the temp. Also should I coat the threads of the senders with high temp silicone or what do you recommend?

Lastly I replaced the pressure control valve as recommended with the new part. The old one had x shaped plastic pieces sticking out from both sides of the flat part that seated against the grommet. The new one had on one side x which I put into the spring and the other side is rounded, which I seated against the grommet. Just wanted to know if this was correct, because I did not know if it woud stay in place that way.

Thanks again!

Yes that is the correct orientation for the PRV valve.
The F115 only has the one spare 14mm plug there on that cover plate, and I think you used that for the WP fitting right? The motor's own temperature sensor is there just above the PRV already. So unless someone else chimes in with a better idea I think that's about it.

fishin' -
If you are going to have one gauge only, better to go with the pressure gauge - it is a much better indicator of water pump performance.
There are other ways to install the water temp sensor on these outboard motors. It does not have to be in the water jacket. My Teleflex water temp gauge came with several different mounting brackets to attach the sensor to the head - you mount the bracket and then screw the sensor into it until the end of the sensor comes in contact with the head surface.
I currently have my temp sensor mounted in the water jacket - starboard side of a V-4 block. But I am thinking about moving it so that it will read head temp directly.
I also just added a water pressure gauge, for the reason stated above.
I use Permatex 14-A thread sealer with Teflon on the fittings for the gauge senders.
Good luck ,
