I have a 06 150 4 stroke and it wont come out of reverse I unhooked the cables and its just stuck in reverse and will not come out. before this happened it would grind going into gear sometimes or not go in gear at all . anyone have any ideals on what might be wrong? Also I can buy a 150 with a 20 inch shaft, but need a 25 inch shaft. Can you convert a 20 inch to a 25 inch? thanks for any help !!

Also, the shifter slide, in neutral, should have all the alignment bars(marks really) lined up and the cable adjusted to slip on without moving that(shifter also in neutral).
Draining the LU oil and checking for metal particles will let you know for certain of internal damage...
You should be able to convert the LU to a long shaft. You will need to install either your 25" main drive shaft (remove the shorter 20" shaft), longer shifter shaft (and you'll leave the 5" "spacer" you already have mounted to the mid section;

Thanks!
Theres a bolt under there (I think it takes a 14mm socket, BOLT #8) that secures the LU to the mid section too..
