2003 yamaha 115 2 stroke

HEllo, I have a 2003 yamaha 2 stroke that has a few issues.

I just cleaned the carbs. I can't seem to find the pilot screw setting. Does anyone know what it should be for that model? I read some says 5/8 turn and some say 1 1/2 turn out.

Also, is it normal to have a little drop or so of fuel on the carb bowls?

is it normal when running on the ear muffs for the right cyclinder to be running cool? Ran it for 15 mins. The left cylinder bank gets warm and the Right bank runs cool. New water pump has been installed.

The model code will help for determining the setting.

You should't have any fuel leaking out of the bowl.

Remove the thermostats, they are located at the top of each cylinder head - you may have one that is stuck open causing one of the banks to remain cool.

Idle screw setting is 5/8ths out from being lightly seated, plus or minus 1/4 turn.

I bought a seloc manual and it says 99-03 1-1 1/2 turns out. My model number is 115TLRB.

I pulled the T-stats and placed them in boiling water and they opened fine.

To test stats it is better to suspend in water that is being heated while monitoring the temperature to see where they start to open and where the open fully, would be good to see what temp they close back also.
Most people just put new ones in instead of going thre the time and trouble testing properly.

At least you know they open at 212*

I was wondering the same thing.

The Yamaha service manual more than likely won't provide the idle mixture screw setting. Older models might have it listed. Later models don't. It is an EPA thing.

Modus Operandi is to turn the screw in until it lightly seats while counting the number of turns. Then, after the carburetor is cleaned to reset the screws to their original position.

He can try both settings (or any others he cares to try) and find out what works best for him.
