  • How should I "mothball" injectors?

I have (2) 250HP OX66's. One is a model year 2000 and the other is a 1997. The 2000 is on my Grady and the 1997 is my "spare parts" engine. I was thinking of sending the "spare" injectors out for cleaning and then would like to put them away for future use. Should I reinstall them in the engine, or would it better to store them another way? I'm thinking they would be safest back in the engine?

I thought of that, too. But I'd like to have them "ready to go" if I needed one. My families time with the boat is in short increments, about 500 miles from where we live. So the more spare parts I have on hand, the better.

I would ask the shop that does the service on them how to store.

If all fails to get a good answer , I would use a vacuum bag sealer to keep moisture and other stuff out of them

Good ideas. Thinking outloud... I have a huge bag of desiccant laying around. I could maybe spray the injectors with a light film of oil and then wrap in a shop towel and put the wrapped injector in a baggie (maybe I can find a vac-bag sealer) with desiccant. Maybe I'm overthinking this. I'll definitely ask the injector shop.
