  • f250 idling too high

Just fixed my port engine with a temp alarm and decided to run my starboard in the tub and when i started the engine it seemed like it was surging a little bid so I squeezed the bulb a few times thinking it needed fuel. It ran for just a little bit and sounded like it was going to straighten out and all of a sudden I hear a loud purge sound from the engine. I shut it down and did a visual and couldn't find anything so I started the engine back up and now it idles between 800-900 rpm. Any thoughts? And please don't tell me it has exhaust corrosion.

ex corrosion wont cause a high idle.
anything left disconnected other than the temp switchs, will cause high idle.
do you have command link ?

Everything looked to be intact but it was after dark and I was looking it over with a flashlight so this morning I will do a better inspection. What concerns me the most is the loud noise it made, like a high pressure cavity being deflated. It was very strange. Can maybe a low pressure fuel pump "blow"?

no pumps that blow, all pumps for fuel are electric on that engine.
the throttle valve is all electric.
the ECU controls the throttle valve based on APS sensor and various ECU inputs.
running that motor in a tub is a BAD idea.
would rather see it on two hoses.
one at the flush port the other at the lower with muffs.
problem with a tub is at engine start it tends to evacuate the tub.
          the F250 starts rather violently.

my guess is you now have a technician induced failure.

Tub is 80 gallons and I run the hose in it to assure the water doesn't over heat. I did a good visual this morning on the engine and all looked good so I started it up and is seems to run fine but won't idle down. Idles between 800-900 rpm. Thermostats not reading correctly maybe?
