Yamaha 9.9 shut down

My 15 year old motor will periodically quit in a manner that sounds like it's running out of gas. It usually starts up easily if I wait a few seconds.
I replaced the fuel pump which seemed to help for a while, but then the problem came back. I've checked the fuel filter & lines from the tank. The other gas lines do not appear to be damaged or kinked. I haven't tried anything with the carb yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The best way to check fuel lines and tank is to run on another tank and hose. It probably wouldn't hurt to go through carb to make sure it is clean and choke is working properly

What will be the best way to clean the carb? Will a spray in product do the job adequately?
