did 2019 Yamaha 70 hp ECU BURN?
i hooked up a Yamaha TAC MFD gauge to CL junction box and power to remote control.
The mfd gauge is energized but no engine hour displaying?
is there a fuse in the outboard that i can check? Very strange. Motor runs no problem!1BE1B4A0-0AEB-4C62-8E0E-74737931D623.jpeg

    hmmm.

Well, its not a 'fuse' issue -
if the engine runs, the ECM is getting all the power it needs.
And you've powered the bus, so the tach is getting powered.

Your wiring arrangement looks right -
assuming the pigtail labeled "2019 Yamaha 70 hp ECU"
    goes back to the engine,
and is connected to the Command Link plug there.

no wonder my Yamaha gateway could not display on my Raymarine Axiom 9” display.
bummer, have to make a trip to the dealership.

sounds like you did not have it hooked to the motor, is that correct?

i did. Motor is connected in the most right red color pigtail cable with a white plug at one end plucked into the Command Link (CL) junction box. The other end of the Red cable plucked into the ECU plug inside the motor cover in the front of the outboard.

The motor is getting power by connecting the 12 volts battery. The remote control is connected and getting power from the motor. Turning the key to ON but not RUN pass power in the RED plug connected to the CL junction box and energize everything pluck into the CL. So the Yamaha MFD is getting energized by the CL.

Unbelievable. My dealer told me MY outbound ECU was sending engine data to motor #3, so they reset it to #1 and it worked. Gauge starts to display engine data.

i am fighting with Yamaha Warranty for the 2 hours labor ($270) my dealer charge me.

I have a small 17 feet boat with only ONE outboard, never had 3 motors on my tiny boat so the ECU is at fault here!

              unbelievable!!!

did you have the dealer you bought the motor from install it and set it all up, gauges included.
if not then you need to talk to the ones that set up the gauge and motor.
Yamaha has nothing to do with what they do if they are not the same

This is really a bogus statement. The ECU inside the motor should not change where it is supposed to send signals considering I never had it installed with more than 1 outboard for my small 17’ boat. It should NOT randomly switch itself and decide to send to motor #3. Something is at fault with Yamaha. Installers followed the instructions and it worked in the beginning and the next few trips.

it has to be a design flaw by Yamaha.

Customers should NOT be penalized by this anomaly.

It was working after it was connected in the beginning and stopped working after less than 4 boat trips.

then someone did something to change it
I never heard of electronics like tis switching by it self.
someone had to hit some buttons

It was messed up by the Yamaha Gateway 6YG-8A2D0-00-00. I reconnected the Yamaha Gateway to CL link and NMEA 2000 to my Raymarine Axiom MFD because now my outboard ECM is sending signal to motor #1. But, still no engine data displaying on my Axiom MFD. So, it was the burned YAMAHA Gateway. Bummer, i only used it for 3 boat trips. Unbelievable. A piece of expensive Yamaha crap.
My local Yamaha dealership contacted Yamaha for Warrenty of the Gateway and Yamaha dared to refuse because of my self installation, and use the typical crap of not installed by certified technician.
This is unacceptable. My local Yamaha dealership when I asked them they said they never installed a Gateway to Raymarine Axiom before so how does it make them more qualified than myself who did a lot of research and asked Raymarine engineers for help to get this to work.
here is my wiring diagram and i am determined to fight this Warrenty with Yamaha outboard.
stay tuned for this. This is a very bad practice from Yamaha outboard.

My local Yamaha dealership Master Tech told me I needed 2 Command Link multi-hub in order to make the engine data to be displayed on the 6Y8-8530T-20-00.
i said no and i showed it to him at the dealership when i took my boat back after i asked him “did you try it with 1 CL multi-hub to see if that works? I only need a TAC no speed gauge” He said no. So, i was able to show it did work with 1 CL multi-hub and 1 CL terminator not 2.
My point of this story: yes Yamaha certified tech is better and know their stuff than 99% boaters, but there is always the 1% exception.

most places will not warranty electrical stuff installed by DIY guys, because there is no telling what they might do to the device.
                              even regular automotive part stores.

yes I agree some know what they are doing, but they have to protect themselves from the large group that do not.

if Yamaha would have not covered it if a Yamaha shop installed it, then the shop would have.

it is just how the world works
