150 vmax hpdi oil press

Recently purchased a 1993 Stratos with a 2004 Yamaha 150 VMAX HPDI. My problem is that I have no oil press when its started, (out of water). It worked fine when the owner started it up. This is all new ground for me, could I be doing something wrong?
