  • carburetor problems

I recently purchased a 2006 F4MSH 68D Yamaha and it has been sitting for a good while. Runs fine but won't idle. Took carb off and cleaned it and it idled fine at home but when I took it to use it, same problem- wouldn't idle ...Could the float need adjusted? If so could you tell me how? The man who had this was a older man who bought it new and took it out and used it 1 time and then became ill and passed away. He winterized it but didn't drain the gas out of the carb so it was gummed up pretty bad. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you cleaned fuel lines and filter?

Are you using fresh fuel from a cleaned tank?

Have you just cleaned jets or carb passages (maybe need to be soaped)

Have you (or someone else) been "playing" with A/F pilot screw?

    How is the float/valve needle?

I don't think is the float weight (can post how you can check it if you need)

Your float level is likely fine un-less you messed with it.

I would be pullling the carb(s) again, pull both the idle and main jets out..

Clean them and make sure you can see light thru them. Some jets have "horizontal holes" thru them that you won't see (and potentially not clean fully).

It doesn't take much to clog those little jets up...

Yamaha also makes a product called "Ringfree" which is a fuel system cleaner and top end cleaner which works extremly well..

This is my Yamaha 75HP 2003 4-stroke. The description under the video on Youtube explains it all. Let me know what you think because I'm stumped.
