  • Tach surging question

Just found this board. Alot of interesting topics. I have a 2000 VX225TLRY. I have noticed a couple of times that in the last 2 outings, my tachometer will surge well past 7000. It is usually are 5900 to 6000 at WOT. There is no change in the engine about the way it performs or sounds. Has anybody else experienced this? I am hoping for a bad tach, but I am never that lucky.

By far the leading source of tach issues is a bad contact. Its also the least expensive tach repair. I suggest checking every connector and connection especially ground starting with the easiest to access until you run out of connections or the problem goes away. Hope this helps, good luck and keep us posted.
