Hello,can someone explain how the electric operated choke works on a f100a,Australian delivered.Is it possible for the choke to be stuck on.Mine will start and idle but dies after about a 40 sec .The exhaust smells rich. Thanks.

it is a prime start unit not a choke.
Make sure it is in the normal run position
and that it operates properly following the procedure in service manual -
if its set up like the US version you should have 2 electrothermal valves.
its an enrichment system with no manual over ride.
is it possible for one to fail in the open or shut position? yes.
however it wont be so rich as to kill the engine.
easy to test them.
remove them.
measure the needle length.
attach the blue and black leads to a 12V source.
wait 4-5 min and remeasure.Comment
