I was having overheating on my 93 130TXRR when running at high rpm's, I tried every suggestion mentioned on almost all threads referrencing overheating, I was about to give up and invest on a new motor for next season. While cleaning some growth off the transducer I noticed a cloud of some sort coming form the side of the engine , above the water inlets, upon further investigation it appears that water is coming out of the side of the engine, right where the lower unit mounts to the engine.
Mechanic who installed the wayer pump kit in the spring said it must be the gromett ( water damper seal) or crack in the water pump housing. Any idea if this sounds possible, or any ideas on what it could be.
Lastly would it be okay to store the engine over the winter without the lower unit mounted? I would like to work on it myself over the winter.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
