Hi guys,
I have a 15hp, 2 stroke, short shaft Yamaha outboard that I recently purchased second hand. It needs some work, usual stuff, carby clean, etc, but I just can't seem to drill down on the year of the motor using typical approaches.
I think I have narrowed the year to 84-95 using the part number on the CDI and working backwards.
The photo of the model / serial is difficult to read and is displayed as follows,

684C S 046839
The motor is in Australia, and tiller steer.
I appreciate your assistance in determining the year and would love to know how you did it.
