I have a 2002 Yamaha 50 TLRA, when Started it goes forward, try to pull back to neutral or reverse and it slams back to forward???? This happened after my normal 3.5 mile ride to camp with no issues or me hitting anything submerged???

Has the lower unit been replaced lately? Sounds like the LU may not be phased correctly with the control box.
A motor should never start in forward gear. There is a switch in the control box to prevent this. However, if the throttle handle is in neutral but the lower unit is in forward gear then the throttle does not about it.
Does it ever come back to neutral when you pull the handle aft? I don't understand the "slams back to forward" comment.
Are you the one that drove it to the camp in the first place?
Reminds me of an old Mercury motor that only had a forward and reverse. From the factory. No neutral. You better be ready to go when the motor was started.

Sounds like something within the gear box is kaput. Drain the oil and see what it looks like.
You might try shifting the motor when the gear case is removed. Might be something wrong in the motor side shift mechanism but I would suspect the gear box has an internal failure.
