  • F200 FP Driver Question - Rodbolt

Do you happen to know what wire colour controls the fuel pump driver to turn on and off the low pressure pump?

Is it the black/white (B/W) wire or the blue/red (L/R) wire?

Damn if I can find anything about the driver in the SM.

    Thanks.

its sketchy at best in the SM unless you have had a few years of electronics training.
however I do have a circuit description someplace down stairs. I will look in a bit when I lock up.
about what year is this F200 ?

yellow/red is key on 12V, should see it from yellow red to black at key on.
        blue/white isLP pump ground path.
best I recall blue is hp pressure ground path.
best I recall B/w is the grond toggle for operation of the lp pump.
whats it doing or not doing?

You gotta love Yamaha changing wire colors as they go along. Let's keep the mechanics confused!

The problem being reported is that the LP pump works when power and a ground is applied with the pump not installed. However, it will not work when installed.

Power is verified as getting to the pump. All wires (power and ground) have been reported as being good. The driver and the ECM are reported to have been replaced. Same problem persists.

I am guessing a wire problem. Just wanting to know which wire applies the ground to the driver for the respective pumps. I am not sure of the capabilities of the guying that I am trying to help via the internet. You know the kind.

just remember at key on the lift pump doenst run.
at speeds below 1200 RPM it runs 10sec on 20 sec off'
the driver is like a solid state relay.
it allows the ecu to control several amps with milliamps.
ill try to look at the complete sucky wiring diagram at work today

I would say that it is absolutely positively a relay. Call a spade a spade and a relay a relay.

Instead of some nonsensical word like a "driver", it should have been called something more meaningful such as "LP and HP fuel pump ground relay"

A driver is used in golf. Or something one becomes when at the helm of a boat or car. A relay is used in electrical stuff.

Call the damn part what it is.

Now that I think about it, Yamaha engineers have got to be color blind. That explains why the colors of wires are changing all of the time and also don't make sense.
